The Forbidden Kingdom

It's been a long time since I created a new post, here I am again back with a little change, first time doing sort of film review. I went with my dad and my siblings to watch this film, it's been a long time since my dad went to a movie theatre, since the 1st version of King Kong? Since Titanic? Oh well, guess I got it from him, I'm no movie freak, hehe!

Well, to start off with the review, the movie was great, I'm giving a 3.5 star out of 5 (ranking 5 as the highest), simple story line, nice plot and great characters. Who would have thought that Drunken Master and Huang Fei-hong (FYI: a character name from Once upon a time in China) would collaborate in one impressive movie. The only thing that makes the movie slightly different from other Chinese (HK) films is that they put a western taste of the movie, by introducing a western boy (who doesn't know Martial Arts, but a hopeless Kung Fu enthusiast) in the movie. It's a hollywood film, what do you expect, hehe!

What makes this film stand out among other films, is that the fact that it's been casted by indisputably Jackie (close, 1st name basis, haha) and Jet li, seeing the force during their fight scenes (monk vs drunken master -- praying mantis vs tiger) in the 1st portion of the movie was really breathtaking, you don't know which one to root for, they are both excellent. Even giving the introduction to both actors, combining J's for Jackie Chan and Jet Li in one page, without letting you think this actor comes first, he must be a better actor. NICE! I missed seeing those fight scenes and the old famous Chinese movies or even movies you unheard of, when we used to rent Betamax from movie rent house, only blocks away from our house, that's so decade ago!

A good character evolution, well, for Jackie Chan as the Drunken Master is somewhat familiar to us since he played as one from the self-titled movie The Drunken Master, but can you imagine Jet Li in the form of a Monkey God? Something to look forward to. Pairing two different characters (comedian and serious) are also great, good tandem, nice pair. There are some scenes that are really funny. It's free to laugh anyway, but respect other viewers (avoid the annoying laugh of yours) ;)

After seeing this movie, it really inspires me to study martial arts, just like the western boy, a terrible and compelled young warrior to a skilful Kung Fu kid .

That's it for now, look closely on the photo below, really worked hard on it taking photos, not exactly editing, haha! Have fun watching "The Forbidden Kingdom" =)
