Mountaineers Conquer Mt. Pulag

After
10 long months of not blogging, I’m back with a vengeance, haha! Another
dream came true when we hiked at the highest mountain in Luzon and 2nd
highest peak in the Philippines (as per DENR:D) next to Mt. Apo.
What
I like most about this experience is that you are on top of the highest peak, above
the sea of clouds, a dream I’ve always wanted:D (evident in the photo on your
left)
2. 2 days of not taking a bath, and
3. Best of all, 2 days of not shitting! =)) (the latrine doesn’t look good, that’s why the latrine and not the “comfort” room, besides, I can live without shitting for 3 days I think, haha!)

dream came true when we hiked at the highest mountain in Luzon and 2nd
highest peak in the Philippines (as per DENR:D) next to Mt. Apo.
What
I hate about this experience was sleeping in the freezing cold tent (those
moments you do not want to complain about Manila being too hot), flooding inside
the tent (good thing I brought a banig to waterproof our sleeping mat but extending our feet keeps them wet and it’s hard to sleep with your hands and feet numb because of
coldness), and the only socks and thermal suit you’re wearing were damp
and wet! Argh! And because of the bad weather, the summit assault (going to the
mountain peak to catch the sunrise) almost did not push through, thank God for
the good weather in the morning (I really prayed for a good weather because the
coldness really bites! :-S)
What
I like about this experience is that it makes people become more aware and
responsible of the environment. There is an orientation
before proceeding with the trekking proper, that tells us the
do’s and don’ts (actually more of the don’ts), like not to leave traces of
presence. If you see trash, you should be responsible to pick it up, “basura
mo, bitbit mo”. And locals in the mountain province are most often nice, in
effect, everyone who visits become nice eventually, haha!:))

Nevertheless, the
overall experience was a blast!
Nots
that made us go Nuts:
1.
2 sleepless nights (Friday night in the bus and hourly stop overs; and Saturday
night in the freezing cold tent and hourly pouring of rain)2. 2 days of not taking a bath, and
3. Best of all, 2 days of not shitting! =)) (the latrine doesn’t look good, that’s why the latrine and not the “comfort” room, besides, I can live without shitting for 3 days I think, haha!)
***Thanks
to Jf (DSLR cam), Glenn (Digicam) and Myself (Cam phone) for the photos:D
