Depression Is Real
Depression is real, when it gets the best of you, you lose, but you can still pick yourself up.
Depression may be developed through certain circumstances such as past abuse, conflicts, death/loss, or even just feeling of sadness or loneliness for unknown reason.
How I think depression can be cured, I am no doctor, but when seeing a doctor is not enough, I think these 5 items below could supplement to fighting depression:
- Travel - some studies say that money does not make anyone happy, but traveling gives more or longer term satisfaction to a person than buying a thing that you really like. Although I must admit, sometimes I go window shopping, it gives me a certain level of satisfaction just by walking around and observing other people also help me temporarily forget about problems. Find something to do that you can relate to this, because an idle mind is a devil's playground.
- Friends - find your friends whom you think can be with you during your time of depression, who would listen to you on a regular, but not on a "daily", basis because your friend is also human who gets tired, try to gauge who are not just someone you think are obliged to listen to you but someone who could help you cope through this stressful time together. You need an outlet to let them out, but understand that the other person also has his/her own business, don't expect that they will be there 24/7 to listen to all your rants because science also says that all the negative thought gets absorbed by the body, if you think you talked to your friends and nothing seems to work, maybe it's time to hug a tree, or find a new hobby (next item)...
- Hobby - turn all your frustrations into drawing, writing, singing, dancing, etc. In sports, you can dribble all the way to a better you, smash/spike all the anger away, and hit the bull's eye of sadness/loneliness' target mark.
- Family - they say that the last person and the most that will understand you will be your relatives, family and your siblings.
- God - pray and read your Bible everyday. The only companion who will stick with you until the end will be Him, if your friend gets tired, Jesus will never leave you nor forsake you (Dt. 31:6). Cast all you cares upon Him (1 Pt. 5:7) and, trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on you on understanding (Pr. 3:5-6)
After all, at the end of the day, it's a battle within you that you have to fight but when you overcome this, you shall overcome anything that comes into your life.
God bless you all!
